Found this on FB today - Thought you would enjoy it:
"Cutting contact with toxic people will transform your life. At first, it feels miserable; like you're going cold turkey from an addiction. But as time goes on, you come to discover that each passing day brings unexpected new blessings. You begin to develop self-respect, boundaries, and true friendships. instead of running around absorbing and forgiving everything, you spend time with people who do not behave in a way that requires constant explaining to begin with. This freedom allows your spirit to thrive. Someday, you will look back and wonder how you even tolerated interacting with such unhealthy people. Your new self begins to feel protective of your old self, and that's a pretty nice place to be!"

Love this, so true! I look back often and wonder how I put up with the mess for so long..but the day I stopped was the first step in the right directon.. It wasn't easy..but now after 8 years..it's really water under the bridge! We were spared from total dysfunction..the turmoil would have continued to this day had it not been stopped..what a scary thought!

That was exactly the thought I had right before I wrote that letter to our Ec - That the bullshit would have NEVER ended

Love this, been away a while. So much has happened it's hard to know where to start. The last time I was on here was about the Sister vent. Interestingly, haven't heard from her. One less toxic thing.
I am going to AZ soon for my nephew's wedding (the Sister's son). I was planning on trying to see the family but since it's one thing after another, I decided to just go and enjoy myself instead of begging to spend time with me. It is after all, my vacation. I'm not about to ruin it.
Ya, toxic never changes only how we chose to deal with it.
