Epiphanies sometimes happen in the strangest places. Today I was watching a Gilmore Girls rerun. The main character Lorelai explains to her friend why she has broken up with her fiance for good. What follows is a modified version of what she said - I think it holds so true for what happened to my husband and I with our EC. Check it out:
"It's like Luke is driving a car and I just want to be in the passenger seat. He's locked the door and I have to hold onto the bumper. I am not even asking him to open the door for me, just leave it unlocked and say come in, but he didn't do that. So I am hanging on to the bumper and life goes on and the car goes on, and I get really badly bruised and I'm hitting potholes. And it hurts. It really hurts. So yesterday I had to let go of the bumper. Because it hurts too much"
Letting go of the bumper - For me, this is the quintessential description of walking away! Any input?

I love it, what a great analogy. I was thinking today about my decision to walk away and knew it was absolutely essential for my well being. Letting go of the bumper really sums it up.

I used to love to watch The Gilmore Girls in Rome yrs ago..they were good in Italian too! Words of wisdom fom Lorelai. Letting go is what we have done for us too.. I am just back from Ireland, we have put a holiday cottage we had there, up for sale. It was time, my mother has passed (2 yrs ago) we haven't been there for 3 long years..we keep the heat on all year, you have to over there..just to keep the place standing. It was a constant concern to manage long distance too. My father bought it back in 1969. I have been clearing thru closets etc that had 40 of nostalgia! I found old Barbie dolls that belonged to our "piece of work" and other various items dating back over the decades.I had not one moment of sadness..just laughs and horror at all the stuff to be cleared!Lol That bumper has long been let go of long ago..and I am very grateful.
